Finding the 9/11 Jury
Five accused terrorists are about to go on trial in New York for their roles in the attacks on 9/11. The federal government is choosing to place them on trial in New York City. There are many questions that are raised about this issue. One of them is how to find an impartial jury.
Do you think there is a way to be impartial for a jury of this magnitude in our area? If you were eligible for the jury would you be able to be impartial? Write your comments. Remember be appropriate. Below is an article about the issue:

Personally, I could not be impartial. I didn’t lose anybody, but I remember the day perfectly. I was in the first grade, and in a daze. Nobody would tell us what was going on. Slowly parent’s picked up their kid’s from school, and then my mom picked me up. When we got home, she let me watch tv so that I could see what was going on. I couldn’t understand it then. What did we do that was so horrible to these people for them to do this to us? I can’t really see how any jury could be impartial with this case.

i think that they shouldn’t even bother with a jury and put them infront of a firing squad. there is no way that they deserve to put on trial for what they did. the only way they would find people to be an impartial jury would be if the people that they find lived in a cave and haven’t watched the news the past 10 years.

If placed in the situation of being a jury member to the terorists I would not be able to participate. I say this because I admit my opinion would be bias because my aunt was killed when the twin towers fell. I would want to put them away forever and never let them have thier say. I believe the court system can not function when the jury already has a set opinion on the matter being evaluated.

to start i find having the hearing in new york city to be a good thing and a bad thing. i think it is good because it shows that people will never forget what happened. it is bad because no one forgot therefor it will be basically impossible to find an impartial jury. that is because although the attacks didnt happen all over america, it impacted all 50 states and many places around the world. because many people were affected there couldnt be any impartial jurors because they would be biased against the accused terrorists. i know i would

Hey Mrs Odonnel,
To answer the questions you asked I had to seriously think about all of the people that have been affected by this tragedy. First off, there are the families that lost people they loved. People all over the world have lost a loved one in the attacks on 9/11. Anybody will say that it is the worst thing that has ever happend in the U.S. I dont believe there is any possible way that a jury could be impartial to this incident. If a person could be then they have no feeling, no soul and no compassion. I shouldnt judge but that is the way I feel. If I was eligible for the jury i would favor the United States side on the story. This is the place where i will live my whole life. I need to know that it will be a safe environment. The people who tore apart our country need to pay for what they have done and all of the people that were lost. Any normal person affected by the tragedy would also think so.

I think it\’s fair to have the jury take court in New York. I think that it would only be fair cause people in New York know what it was and knew the best of what happened. People in New York was mostly affected and they should tell what they feel just because it was done to us. I was young when it happened but was still aware of it. I think if i was old enough i would take part in jury.

I wouldn\’t be able to be unbais, and i was only 7 when 9/11 took place. As a New Yorker, I feel personally targeted. They should be picking people from states out west, where the damage was less personal-some people in the west don\’t even believe 9/11 even happened. Why don\’t we get some of those people, leave New Yorker\’s alone about 9/11, we\’ve gone through enough already.

i think it is fair to have a jury to do the trial in new york. i think new yorkers should be able to know what happens in the trial. about a 9/11 case for terrorists.

i think it is going to be very difficult to find a jury that does not have a string feeling for the case. everyone knows wht hapend on 911 and i think most people feel horrible just thinking about it. Or it can go the other way, some people agree what happend so i dont think that it will be a fair case

I don’t think it’s a good idea for the trial to be held in New York City because that is the site of attack, and many people are still recovering from 9/11. The people effected by 9/11 won’t be happy to know that the terrorists that attempted to destroy New York City will now be walking around in it.

September 11, 2001 is not a subject to be messed or joked about. If I had to be on this jury, I as well as almost anyone else on this earth, would probably shot the accused ourselves.

If i was on this jury i dont think i could be impartial. People in my state and country have lost people they loved. I didnt loose anyone on this trajic day but everytime peopl bring it up i still get shaky. These people were practicly our neighbors. i dont understand how these terrorists couldnt think of the outcome they were about to put on this country. I would have to take the united states side.

after what 9/11 did to the country and how it hit everybody i dont think itd be possible to find a jury that wouldnt be biased or impartial. even people who didnt have to do with the towers or new york still were hit by it and a lot still are dealing with it so theres no way anyone would be able to sit and consider any of these people innocent after that.
April 23rd, 2010 at 8:45 am
Either way these people deserved what they got because they killed innocent people and it was a national loss so it would have been the same anywhere else.

after 9/11 there is no possible way in hell you would be able to find a non bias jury, if you looked on mars. after 9/11 everyone was severly impacted even in other countries… i know that if i was in that jury there would be no possible way for those terrorists to have any life after.

I don’t think any jury will be fair in a trial like this. no one can forget what happened on 9/11 so why would they want to let the accused go free. If i was asked to be on this jury i would say no way, i mean i was really young when it happened and over time i started to understand the impact it had and its just not forgivable in my eyes and most likely most of americas to

I think it would be hard to find a fair jury for this. i almost lost my aunt in this and most peopke would just send them to jail. so i think most people would not even give them a chance and find any innocent after they did this. cause personally i would not

I honestly think that finding an impartial jury for this case, is pretty close to impossible. After what happened on 9/11 I think that many people are biased against the people that had committed the crime, and that is what the jury may consist of, people that are very biased. And for the trial to be held in New York City is just an even worse idea, because that was where the attack had occurred and many people were affected by it in that area. 9/11 is something that should not be joked about, and should be taken into very deep consideration.

sept 11 was a serious matter. if i was a part of this jury i would sentence the accused to death or something because its not fair what they did to this country, and then we let them get away with it cause maybe they will do it again or something
June 10th, 2010 at 6:39 pm
9/11 is something you dont mess about. it was a really bad thing that happened. i didnt lose anyone in 9/11 but i had my friends who lost loved ones. in my opinion i think it is going to be hard to try people to be on a jury that dont fell that strongly about the situation.
