| As a group
of four to five, you will research an event in modern history that includes
the practice of possible genocide. You will gather information and make
a presentation to the UN outlining which points of Convention on the Punishment
and Prevention of the Crime of Genocide have been violated as well as
a recommendation about what should be done to rectify the situation. Your
presentation should include evidence proving the UN's definition of genocide,
a map of where the genocide took place, what group is the victim, what
group is the accused, and statistics of the number of people effected. |

1.
First you'll be assigned to a team of 4-5 members of the UN to investigate
a particular country. Each one of you will be responsible for examining
a portion of the UN definition of genocide. |
2. Once
you've picked which portion of the definition you will be responsible
for, you will examine the evidence on the specific possible case of genocide.
Each individual in the group will gather information from each of the
web sites pertinent to their particular assignment. |
| 3. Each
member of the group will bring the evidence to the group and formulate
a presentation either via power point or web site that will prove the
particular case to be genocide. The presentation should include a map
of where the genocide took place, what group is the victim, what group
is the accused, and statistics of the number of people effected and a
recommendation about what should be done to rectify the situation. |

| During
the course of your quest, you have learned that genocide is not a problem
of the past but of the present. You have been exposed to the people and
the places of the world who have been affected by this as well as come
up with a global awareness of how to plan to prevent the crime of genocide.
