Mocking Bird

The Mocking bird is 7 to 12 inches tall with green and brown feathers. It lives near farmhouses and on plantations. The Mocking bird is known for copying other animals’ sounds. The Mocking bird is important to the state of Florida because it can mock other animals’ sounds. The Mocking bird became the state bird on April 23, 1927.

Orange Blossom

The Orange Blossom is two inches tall with white petals. It grows in warm temperatures on orange trees. The Orange Blossom is known for being the bud of an orange. The Orange Blossom is important in the sate of Florida because Florida is known for its citrus fruits, and the Orange Blossom is the bud of an orange. The Orange Blossom became the state flower on May 5, 1909.

Sabal Palmetto

Sabal Palmetto

The Sabal Palmetto is 80 feet tall with green leaves. It grows in areas near the beach. The Sabal Palmetto is known for its big leaves that have sharp blades. The Sabal Palmetto is important in the state of Florida because it is very common in this state. The Sabal Palmetto became the state tree of Florida in 1953.

Florida state flag

The Florida flag has a white background with a red X. The state seal is in the center of the X and the words “In God We Trust” appear on the seal. These words are the state motto. There is also a picture of a woman at the beach. This is a symbol of the Seminole tribe of Native Americans. This is important to the state of Florida because the Seminoles have been living there for a long time. There is also a picture of a steamboat. This picture represents the people of Florida traveling on lakes, and, rivers. There are also many beaches in Florida, where you will see palm trees, and the palm tree is Florida’s state tree. The Florida flag was adopted in 1899.
