The Oregon quarter was the thirty-third state quarter to be released by the U.S. Mint. Oregon became a state on February 14, 1859, and the Oregon quarter was the third one to be released in the year 2005. The design of this quarter was chosen by governor Ted Kulongoski after a committee thought of the idea.

On the state quarter of Oregon you will see the words “Crater Lake” and a picture of the lake. It is important in the state of Oregon because it is the deepest lake in the United States and the seventh deepest in the world. It was formed when a mountain volcano erupted and collapsed. You will also see the mountains in the background and an island in the middle of the lake. You will also see conifer trees, because there are a lot of those trees in Oregon.
