Coin Collecting Supplies
You should take very good care of your coin collection. One of the ways to do that is to have the correct supplies. Here are the supplies you will need to get started.

Examining Coin A magnifying glass is used for looking at the details on the coin and for spotting mistakes. When you look closely at the coin, make sure the glass does not scratch the coin.

Tweezers are used sometimes for picking up the coin so that dirt and oil from your hands don't get on the coin. You don't have to use tweezers but some collectors like to. If you want to use tweezers make sure the ends are protected with plastic. If they are not, the coins could get scratched.

White gloves can be used instead of tweezers for the same reasons. They should be made of cotton, or plastic gloves can also be used.

Some collectors just make sure their hands are very clean before holding the coin.

Good lighting is a must when examining coins. Tilt and turn the coin under the light so you can see every detail on it. Also use your magnifying glass.

A soft mat or material should be placed on the table where you are examining coins. If you were to drop one it would land on a soft surface, and this will prevent it from becoming damaged.

A soft cloth and mild soap is needed to occasionally clean and dry the coins.
Supplies To Clean Coins
Protecting the coins is very important. Never put them in a loose bag or box. Here are some ways to store and display coins and keep them protected at the same time.

Coin boards are also used for displaying and storing coins. The map of the United States is a very popular coin board for displaying and storing the state quarters.
Albums are great for displaying and storing coins. They can hold a lot of coins and take up little room.

Paper envelopes are small envelopes that can fit a coin inside it. Before putting the coin in the envelope you can write information about the coin on it.

Boxes with trays inside can also be used. The tray is covered with a soft material and is divided so each coin has its own space. This protects the coins from getting damaged.
