Hamrick Heads for Chicago

Mr. Kevin Hamrick, Director of Debate for the District from 2003-5, has left to become a full-time debate coach at Northwestern University. Northwestern is the oldest continuous debate program in the U.S. and arguably the nation’s most competitive, winning the National Debate Tournament (NDT) more than any school in the last ten years. Northwestern has claimed first place in 1994-5, 1997-99, 2000-3, and 2005. It was voted the college debate program of the decade in 2000. Mr. Hamrick’s coaching talents will be missed. While in the district, he coached the team to sweep all the divisions of the State Debate Championships in 2004 and to a second place finish in 2005.
