Have
you caught The Quarter Craze?
State Quarter Survey |
||
Our conclusion: Collecting the state quarters is very popular with 4th and 5th graders. Students will like our website because they will learn more about the quarters. Both grades were very similar in their favorites. We did not ask if they collect both the Philadelphia and Denver minted quarters. Each state quarter is minted in both the Philadelphia Mint and Denver Mint. Just look at the obverse side of the quarter (the side with George Washington's head). On the lower right side it will be marked with a "P" or "D". If you conduct a survey, maybe this is a question you would ask. We know it is harder to find the quarters marked with a "D" in the eastern part of the country and quarters marked with a "P" in the western part of the country. This is because of circulation, which means banks in the west get most of the "D" marked quarters because Denver, CO is a western city. Banks in the east get most of the "P" marked quarters because Philadelphia, PA is an eastern city. Fifty percent of our team collects each state quarter with the "D" and "P" mintmark! |
